Uncle Pete and Aunt Muriel
These are the only pictures I could find of them. If you have a better picture please send me one.
There's always some people in our lives that we can look back to who have been a real encouragement to me. Uncle Pete and Aunt Muriel Heppner were such people who left an indelible impression on my life.
I just got to know Uncle Pete after her came to the Lord. He had been living on Main St. in Winnipeg before this and now had an exuberant testimony. He had a trucking business and spent his spare time on Main St. witnessing to his old friends about the change Christ could make.
Then he met Aunt Muriel and after a number of years of dating they were married. Since neither of them had a family they often spend holidays at our house. It was always special to have them come. They were somewhat older when they got married but the Lord gave them Peter and Paul in those first years. They were so happy and had big dreams of their boys serving the Lord. I remember Uncle Pete often walking through the house and singing a the top of his voice," found the answer I learnt to pray"
I could tell the Lord meant the world to him and would do anything so others could find the joy he had.
Aunt Muriel shared in his love for the Lord and always had a listening ear. Often when I was on my own and needed advice I found myself at heir place where she made me feel at home and let me talk. Usually by the time I finished I had found the answer myself. She was always ready to pray about a problem.
She was a wonderful pianist and could play anything by ear and used her talent to play for many a service. After Uncle Pete passed away I went with her to Oral Roberts university for a conference.
I appreciated Uncle Pete's care for my car when I was on my own. He'ed take the car to the garage where all his trucks were serviced and made sure my car was looked after.
I know they were human and made many mistakes and especially how hard it was for Aunt Muriel when Uncle Pete passed away. They both had such a deep love for the things of the Lord and I know their deepest desire was for their boys to love the Lord as well. We can be assured that their prayers will continue to reap a harvest in time. I look forward to seeing them in heaven someday
