Rodgers Hill

The tobogganing hill was a big hit in the community and beyond. Each year more and more people started coming and it got to the point we had to start supervising for insurance purposes. People brought tubes, toboggans and some used skis. If there was a skidoo around they would pull them back up the hill.

George had this dream of a toboggan hill with a tow rope but how could this ever happen? When we started Life Springs Retreat Centre this looked to be more of a possibility. We decided to move the sliding hill to the centre where it was somewhat safer being in a direction away from the traffic.

We had been in touch with another retreat centre just across the border in North Daktoa. They were closing down their hill and offered us their rope. Abe Suderman donated a motor and came over to help install it on the new hill. The first winter we had no warm up building but would sometimes build a fire.

Next a donation came in and we built a building for a warm up and a canteen. We spent many a day there and made many new friends as people came from far and wide . The connections made also helped

the retreat centre. God was so good in supplying our needs. He knew what it would be in the future.

We tried to change the name to Life Springs Hill and later to Valley View but the name, Rodgers Hill has stuck. Now it is known as Rodgers Hill at Valley View Bible Camp.

Since Valley View took over the centre about 15 years ago the camp has grown and been blessed beyond measure. This last year the camp had 8550 sliders. It is a very important part of the camp. We want to give the Lord the glory for what He has done through faithful workers all these years and continues to do.
