MacGregor EMC
MacGregor EMC
In 1964 when Mom and Dad moved to MacGregor, the MacGregor EMC became our church home. This is where I met George and we were married in 1966. We moved to his farm south of town. So for the past 51 years this has been our church home.
George and I both taught Sunday school for many years and later I was SS superintendent for a few years. We served where we could but being ten miles from church we were limited at times to what we could do. Having a church home was an important part of our life. It was good to have a church home and even though we've had ups and downs we can say they were always there when we needed them.
As our family grew into the teen years they were part of youth group and were given teaching in God's Word and had friends to fellowship with.
One incident that stands out for me was as follows. It looked like I was going to have surgery. I felt the Lord was going to do something. So, I called Pastor Kroeker and asked the ministerial to come ,anoint me with oil and pray for me. I could feel a spiritual battle while I waited for them to come.
The day after they prayed for me the Lord seemed to be saying to me," Evelyn if you want me to heal you then start walking." I did walk each day and by the time I went to the doctor all my pain was gone and I didn't have to have surgery.
How I praised the Lord.
Some years we had small groups which really helped in building community and studying God's Word.
We have seen times of struggles and as a church also times of enormous blessings. e.g. the revival fires ,that we experienced in the"70es..Now I pray for that to happen again.
Having a church family is such an important part of family life.
I am so thankful for the church family we have.
