Life Spring Retreat Cente services

For many years cattle roamed the east half of the quarter our yard was on for a large part of the year. It was hilly and sandy with quite a bit of bush. Our milk cows also grazed here and so I had to go and get them often daily..

As I walked or rode horse back to get the cows I often envisioned the grounds in the valley as a perfect place for a retreat centre - a place as our motto later on said, "For you to come apart before you come a part". I would sometimes spend some time in prayer here and feel his presence.

The tobogganing hill was to the point where we had to shut it down or do something with it. In 1978 my brother Ed encouraged us to put our vision down on paper and dream about what it could be.

About this time a Christian counselling centre opened up in Portage and they were looking for a place of retreat for some clients. They came and presented their work in our church. We showed them our vision paper, they came and looked and were excited about working here.

They got a board together and started planning. Shortly after the centre in Portage folded, but the board were excited and decided to go it as an independent retreat centre in a wilderness setting.

From these merger beginnings we saw miracle after miracle as the Lord provided materials and help to get things under way. It was a time of stretching our faith and seeing the Lord work. What blessed times we had as people started using the facilities and we saw the Lord work in lives. Step by step there was growth each year. It was amazing how many wanted to camp in this setting. We were so blessed to be a part of this work and praise the Lord.

He has done all things well.
